Biography
Erika Rossi gained her Master's Degree in Visual and Multimedia Communication, specializing in Interaction Design from the Iuav University of Venice, with a mark of 110/110 cum laude, creating "I Mirabilia". Currently, Erika is employed as an interaction and visual designer at Fjord in Madrid, immediately following her internship with Fjord in 2010, and previously an internship in Bologna with Mollusco e Balena agency. Her work, I Mirabilia, earned her the James Dyson Award, and was selected to be published at the Ambience 2011 conference. Erika also received the Adobe Design Achievement Award Finalist status for her piece, Liasion, in 2010. She won the Giovane Grafica Italiana competition for her internship contributions done with graphic designers, Erik Kessels, Richard van der Laken and Harmen Liemburg in 2009. Additionally, Erika's work, 'Lello' was selected for the Nutella & Fruits design competition, sponsored by Interni magazine, winning her an internship with product designer Giulio Iacchetti.
Description
For each house we used different materials: ceramic, paper and plexiglass.
All is made by ourselves.
Communication objective
Today, just by picking up the mobile phone we can call our friends, located in areas all around the world. Liaison offers the possibility of keeping in touch with someone we find special in a more poetic and less intrusive way. It consists of a pair of interactive houses for two people sentimentally connected, which subtly suggests a metaphor for domestic intimacy. There were three versions developed: paper, ceramic and plexi-glass, each one with its own character and behavior.
Tools used
We used Adobe Photoshop to create the gif images, in order to understand the behavior of our little houses and to modify each picture. We used Adobe InDesign to build all of the presentations, and Adobe Illustrator to create the flyers and images related to the visual communication of the project, including packaging, label, and presentations. Adobe Premier Pro was used to edit the video scenarios.
